KATHMANDU, OCT 30 - A four-day Kathmandu Global Tiger Workshop (KGTW) 2009 concluded on Friday with experts from 13 out of 14 tiger range countries aiming to achieve the goal of doubling the population of the wild tigers within the next ten years.
The wild tiger population has fallen from 100,000 to about 3,500 today over the past century in around 14 tiger range countries including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Nepal, Indonesia, Russia, China, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam among others. Read more »

Dashain celebration glorifies the triumph of good over evil, and is ymbolized by Goddess Durga slaying the terrible demon Mahisasur, who had terrorised the earth in the guise of a brutal water buffalo.
