Dashain celebration glorifies the triumph of good over evil, and is ymbolized by Goddess Durga slaying the terrible demon Mahisasur, who had terrorised the earth in the guise of a brutal water buffalo.

Now, many Hindus celebrate Dashain by sacrificing innocent animals. According to Hindu religious texts regarding animal rights, nothing is mentioned of animal sacrifice to appease Gods and Goddesses, who would never approve their own creatures being slaughtered in their name.Human beings are killing those innocent creatures for their own selfish motive. It is against Hindu religion and way of life, in reality. The respect that must exist for fellow living creatures must be maintained.Hindu religious books Speak of co-existence with all the other living creatures for a better world. So, killing animals as sacrificial offering must be stopped. Celebrate Dashain the vegetarian way. Save animals, save the eco-system.
Millions of animals are sacrificed in every Dashain, this is of course a wrong practice. I think the God and the Goddess do not accept any animal’s blood.
So STOP Sacrificing Animals.

Can you picture 7,000 young buffaloes being rounded up and killed by a thousand drunk men carrying large knives? A festival where 500,000 animals are killed to please a goddess?
This is exactly what -if nothing is done- will happen in November 2009 in Nepal. The Gadimai Festival in Bariyarpur, Bara District, is held each 5 years. The mass sacrifice turns the entire area into a marshy land of blood.
Animal Welfare Network Nepal wants to end this bloody, cruel practice.

The civilization is suffering from superstations since its formation. Illiteracy and foolish superstations have defined our religious customs. Every illiterate ad add to the superstation because of poor or no realization. Illiterate Taliban gives Islam a barbaric meaning, in India Tantric has created a f*****g version of Hinduism (sanatan dharma), and there are similar Christians who has spoilt the meaning of Christianity. The actual problem is true literacy.
Animal sacrifice is common in Nepal, Assam, Bihar, Orissa, some part of Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Needless to say Indian illiterate community has strong presence in these states.
Hindu religious superstations are like HIV+ infection, there is no cure except literacy. Thanks GOD, these illiterates are not practicing public intercourse or gang rape as part of rituals!
In this lawless country weak governments never tried to develop awareness because leaders are unaware. I remember a district Superintendent of Police (I forgot name of that foolish guy) of Assam sacrificing a buffalo in temple……such a illiterate guy he is!!! The escaped powerless king of Nepal is another such character. I hope someday such shameful superstations will be checked by strict law.

I have canceled my trip to Nepal, and will boycott Nepal and everything Nepalese until this mass butchering ends. This is the 21st century. Nepal’s government is sadly supporting a horrendously cruel, backwards tradition. There were many such traditions in the world 100 or more years ago, but as we evolve our wisdom tells us that they are wrong. We no longer have slavery, we no longer support wife beating or torture…those practices are clearly wrong to the educated, modern mind and heart. But Nepal? What is the matter with Nepalese Hindus? They are a disgrace to our species. And the Nepalese government is to blame for supporting such a massive slaughter. Why not spend the $60,000 on schools and clinics in Nepal instead of on the cruel torturing and massive murdering of defenseless animals?
I’m here in Pokhara and it is 3 days until this disgusting bloodshed begins. I would never have come here to Nepal if I’d have known about it. Can someone tell me who I can contact here to make my protest in person. It must be some in the highest possible position. If you know of someone who can help, please let me know asap. I’m going to make sure the whole of Australia knows about this barbaric practice as soon as I get home but I want to shake this situation up while I’m here. thanks everyone

Please stop this nonsense and barbaric act with innocent animals. No religion allows to sacrifice any creature in
the name of god/godess or Allah. In today’s moderate world there is no place for these thousands of years old ridiculous practices. If we want to save our earth and human race we will have to save all kind of animals/creature no matter it is domestic or wild. Our servival depends on them and they are also responsible for safe environment. Please love them and don’t kill them.
