Bird flu hits birds life in Nepal

Bird flu, which has not been reported in Nepal, already has affected Birds life in Nepal. Unscathed by the past bird flu epidemics that had swept its giant neighbours India and China, Nepal has finally reported the first outbreak of the disease caused by the Avian Influenza Virus has been detected in the border town of Kakarbhitta in eastern Jhapa district.


Nepal Government Friday called an emergency meeting of his cabinet to discuss the epidemic and other crises.The government has ordered all poultry in the town as well as other areas within 3 km of it to be culled.Grim-faced poultry farmers watched by the police Friday began the destruction process.
The government has intensified its surveillance in 26 border districts in the wake of the outbreak of bird flu at Kakarbhitta, Jhapa on Friday. Kakarbhitta is contiguous to west Bengal, India. Red alert has been sounded in all the 26 districts.
The state organs are keeping a strict vigil on the mysterious death of chickens and birds across the country. Ministry of Agriculture and cooperatives has urged the Home Minister to intensify search operation by police in border areas.
