Wild animals killed sans technology and technicians

By Krishna Mani Baral

Many of the endangered animals of Nepal including he cheetahs and leopards who enter the cities in search of food have been killed in large numbers due to lack of technology and technicians to handle them.

Is this animals rights ? Stop torture animals.
More then 4 leopards die every year in Kaski district due to lack of technology and technicians, informed Kiran Nath Shrestha, officer at the District Forest Office Kaski. These animals might attack humans as they easily panic around crowds and try to act in self defense. So, we are left with no alternatives than to shoot these animals dead if they enter the cities as we lack skilled manpower to operate the dart guns, nets and cages that can be used capture them and return them back to their natural habitat, Shrestha said.

There are financial difficulties even to treat the injured animals, he informed and added that this situation is prevalent in almost all other districts of the country. He demands the government to provide every district with trained manpower and technology to safely capture these wild animals which have run astray from their natural homes. The government needs to appoint skilled technicians for animal conservation and work towards protecting these rare and endangered animals.
